CONFIDENTIALITY and SAFEGUARDING: Attending counselling and what you say in your sessions is confidential, unless you tell me you are going to harm yourself or take your own life. Then I have to pass that information on for your safety. I have a contract that we agree to and it is not legally binding. It is for the boundaries of the therapeutic relationship and professional purposes only.
SAFEGUARDING CHILDREN: Safeguarding children is everyone’s business. I will take action to keep children safe. This is not the same as disclosing historical self harm or abuse that happened in the past. That is kept confidential.
CHILDREN: Children can not be responsible for their own abuse. Safeguarding is everyone’s business and action must be taken to keep children safe. I work with children from age 11 with parental consent.
CANCELLATIONS: I require non-refundable payment 48 hours in advance to secure your booking and to offer that session to someone else. You can reschedule with more notice than 48 hours.
DATA: I am qualified and insured. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). I record dates and outline the issues you are attending counselling to address for insurance purposes only. I do not hold on to personal information, aid memoirs or assessments after counselling ends. I do not diagnose.
I do not offer an emergency service. Take action to keep yourself safe. There is another option. These feelings are temporary.
if you need to talk to someone urgently, please call the Samaritans on 116 123 for their 24/7 confidential helpline. If you are going to harm yourself go straight to A & E at your closest hospital. DO NOT DELAY.
