My writing is my way of opening conversations that too often stay unspoken. Each book is part of a journey — mine, yours, ours. Together they form a trilogy of survival, shame, and new beginnings.

Book 1: I Had a Happy Childhood, Did You? A skilled counsellor: Time to talk

This is where it begins: through the eyes of the adult, speaking for the inner child, shaped by family, silence, and survival. It asks us to look honestly at the lived experience, to make sense of it; rather than “happy” or not happy, this book validates you — it helps you move on from confusion, conditions put on you in childhood and be the true authentic you.

Book 2: Ego to Soul: Shame is your friend

Here, the focus turns to shame: how it takes root, how it disguises itself, and how it can be transformed. This book is both personal and practical — a guide for anyone ready to understand their own patterns and begin the process of change.

Book 3: A New Relationship: Working with change — coming soon

The third book steps into the world we are living in now. It looks at women carrying inherited shame, men shaped by ego, and the possibility of building something new together. This is not just about couples — it is about how we, as humans, choose to live, love, and relate in a way that is rooted in soul, not survival.

Together, these books form a path:

  • From childhood survival
  • To understanding shame
  • To a new way of being in relationship — with ourselves, with each other, with the world.

They are written to be both mirror and map: reflecting the truth of what we’ve carried, and pointing towards what we can now become.

In this first book of the series, counsellor Karen Bell invites readers to step into a warm, honest, and healing space. Through reflections, client stories, and her own lived experience, she explores what happens when we grow up in environments that were unsafe — not always in obvious ways, but in the quiet undercurrents of silence, shame, and unmet needs.

This book speaks directly to those who:

  • Were told their childhood was “fine,” yet feel uneasy
  • Struggle to understand where anxiety, people-pleasing, or self-sabotage come from
  • Want to reconnect with their voice, their body, and their truth
  • Feel the pull to live authentically, even if others don’t understand

Gentle, grounded, and emotionally rich, It Says I Had a Happy Childhood offers more than insight — it offers validation, empowerment, and a way home to yourself.
